Medtecs Group is at the forefront in the fight against COVID-19 in the Philippines, as President Duterte expressed his support for locally manufactured personal protective equipment (PPE).
Department of Trade and Industry Secretary Ramon Lopez reported that while there had been only one exporter in Bataan (Medtecs) that locally manufactures PPE during the onset of the pandemic in February, the country now welcomes a unified effort from several manufacturers to produce high-quality PPE.
These same companies has formed a new alliance called the Confederation of Philippine Manufacturers of PPE (CPMP) to expand their manufacturing capacities and repurpose their facilities to produce PPEs.
Medtecs Group Chairman Mr Clement Yang is CPMP’s founding chairman. Through CPMP, Medtecs will leverage on its prior successful experiences to help the Philippine government establish PPE specifications that meet international standards; and, through policy advocacy, to build PPE production capacity in the Philippines and to ensure compliance and quality of epidemic prevention products available in the local market and ultimately to safeguard the health and safety of the people of the Philippines.
Secretary Lopez added that President Duterte has directed the Department of Budget and Management to prioritize buying from local producers, whose prices are competitive and the quality is of high-standard.
